Critics are crying foul over smoking apps that they say are targeting kids in a effort to get them to smoke.
(WXYZ) - These days you can do just about anything on your mobile device: text friends, play games, even smoke a cigarette.
But experts warn these smoking apps could encourage kids to puff.
There are more than 100 pro-smoking apps available, ranging from virtual smoke sessions, to nicotine-themed battery widgets, to tobacco "shops" where you can roll your own cigarettes.
Millions of people worldwide are now downloading apps that, researchers say, promote smoking
The American Cancer Society warns the apps appear to be targeting teens and children - with some rated for kids as young as 12.
Right now, the app world is largely unregulated and the Federal Trade Commission says there is no evidence any us tobacco company is involved.
