Dearborn to host job fair Wednesday for veterans and their spouses

(WXYZ) -    The City of Dearborn is supporting the U.S. Chamber of Commerce's job fair for veterans and their spouses 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, April 23 at Dearborn's Ford Community & Performing Arts Center, 15801 Michigan Avenue.
   The event is part of the U.S. Chamber's Hiring Our Heroes initiative. Hiring Our Heroes job fairs are open to all U.S. active duty service members, Guard and reserve components, veterans, and/or spouses of any of these groups.
   Job seekers are encouraged to register at prior to the event.  Registration will also be available on the day of the event; veterans and service members must provide proof of service at the registration table.
   Hiring Our Heroes launched in March 2011 as a nationwide initiative to help veterans, transitioning service members, and military spouses find meaningful employment. To date, more than 1,500 companies have hired 21,600 veterans and military spouses as a result of more than 700 hiring fairs.
    The event will feature an employment workshop beginning at 8:30 a.m. Classroom and mentoring sessions will focus on resume building, resume writing, and interviewing techniques. A maximum of 50 participants will be accepted for this workshop, and candidates can register for this session at the Dearborn Hiring our Heroes website.
