Gold Cup hydroplane races return to Detroit River this weekend

DETROIT (WXYZ) - The Detroit River will be buzzing with racing boats all weekend long.

It's the 103rd running of the APBA Gold Cup .

Tens of thousands are expected to line the riverfront to take in one of the oldest races in all of motorsports.

The hydroplanes race at speeds near 200 miles per hour.

Saturday and Sunday general admission tickets will cost $15 to $45.

12:00 pm - 1:00 pm  F/A-18 Tactical Demo
1:00 pm - 5:00 pm  Heat Racing - All Classes

Sunday, July 15
9:30 am - 12 pm  Heat Racing - All Classes
12:00 pm - 1:00 pm  F/A-18 Tactical Demo
1:00 pm - 4:00 pm  Heat Racing - All Classes
4:20 pm   103rd Running APBA Gold Cup Final
