Habitat-Oakland's Women Build 2014 plans Spring fundraisers

(WXYZ) -       Habitat for Humanity of Oakland County Women Build is part of an international Habitat effort to recruit, educate and nurture women volunteers to build and advocate for simple, decent and affordable houses in their community - by women, for women, empowering women to take the lead on all aspects of a Habitat home, from start to finish.

    Habitat-Oakland's Women Build 2014 includes a steering committee of local female leaders, each of whom has pledged her own donation of $1000.  The Women Build 2014 has been hard at work fundraising to support the building of an entire house.

   The involvement of more than 200 female volunteers will also include training days for volunteers to learn construction skills to work on-site.

   There are events taking place to support the Women Build effort, including one on Thursday, May 29th from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at Leon & Lulu's, 96 West 14 Mile Road, Clawson, MI  48017.  Ticket price for the Leon & Lulu event is $35/person
    The Oakland County Mother's Day Weekend Flower & Plant Sale on May 9th-10th will donate all proceeds to Women Build 2014.
    Habitat for Humanity is an international grassroots organization dedicated to the elimination of poverty and substandard housing.   Worldwide, Habitat has built and renovated more than 500,000 houses since 1976.
