Local events mark 12th anniversary of 9/11 attacks

(WXYZ) - A number of local events are scheduled to mark the 12th anniversary of the September 11th attacks.

In Grosse Pointe Woods, the Grosse Pointe North Chapter of Young Americans for Freedom will commemorate the anniversary by showcasing nearly 3,000 American flags at Grosse Pointe North High School. They will also host a school-wide moment of silence at 9:59 a.m. - the minute the South Tower collapsed.

In Port Huron, the city will memorialize the first responders who gave their lives in the attack at a Service of Remembrance. It will be held at 9:00 a.m. at the International Flag Plaza on the Thomas Edison Parkway.

The Michigan Fallen Heroes Memorial will hold their annual September 11th Ceremony at the site of the Michigan Fallen heroes Memorial at 1200 North Telegraph at 11:00 a.m.

Davenport University will host their annual 9/11 National Day of Service and Remembrance at 5:00 p.m.

An Interfaith Service of Prayer and Remembrance of 9/11 will be held at the Hemlock Park Shelter in Dearborn at 7:00 p.m.
