Michigan Humane Society honoring veterans with special Adoption Day event

(WXYZ) - Veterans have the opportunity to be heroes for lucky animals this Veterans Day at the Michigan Humane Society, the oldest and largest animal welfare organization in the state.

On Saturday, November 11, the MHS is discounting fees for all honorably discharged, active duty, reserve, and National Guard personnel at adoption centers in Detroit, Westland, Rochester Hills and at the Petco in Sterling Heights. It's located at 13701 Lakeside Circle. 

MHS is offering 75 percent off adoption fees on all available dogs, cats, kittens and puppies for qualified adopters. To take advantage of the promotion, adopters must:

Be honorably discharged from a branch of the United States military OR present their military ID to show their current service status   

Present their DD-214 form at time of adoption (if honorably discharged)

Follow all Michigan Humane Society adoption procedures, including application approval
