Detroit Free Press interns visit TV-7 anchor JoAnne Purtan at Action News downtown studio

WXYZ Detroit - It was a site to behold at our downtown Detroit studio inside the Chase Tower Building (affectionately called the Qube) overlooking Campus Martius Park. About 15 students participating in the Detroit Free Press High School Apprenticeship Program joined Actions News Anchor JoAnne Purtan as she delivered her 12 noon newscast from the highly visible glass enclosure.  Under the mentorship of retired Free Press reporter Cassandra Spratling, the summer interns asked JoAnne, a Channel 7 veteran journalist, how she does her job and what kind of education and skills are needed to become a successful television broadcaster.  Thanks to JoAnne for eagerly and patiently taking time out of her busy day to interact with the students.  Hopefully, this diverse group will come visit us again!
