Brandon Truttling
7 Action News Reporter

Last Update: 3/08/2007 2:36 pm
Always inquisitive, Brandon Truttling had an acute interest in watching the news ever since he was in junior high school. Finally, in his freshman year of college he realized journalism and broadcasting would suit him well. " I’m so interested in others, it was a perfect fit," Brandon says of his career choice.

Brandon joined WXYZ-TV in January of 2005. He began his career in broadcast journalism in his native state of Texas, where he was given the opportunity to cover President George W. Bush at his Crawford Ranch.

Brandon gets satisfaction from asking questions and telling people’s stories. According to Brandon he specifically thrives on "breaking news because it ‘tests your muscles’ and feature stories, because it shows a ‘softer side’." One of his most memorable stories was when he covered a couple’s first Mother’s Day together with four siblings they had recently adopted.

Prior to joining WXYZ Brandon worked in Oklahoma City, and in Central, Texas. Brandon received a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communications and Broadcasting from Texas State University. He has also been involved in various community organizations including the Big Brothers/Big Sisters Program.

For fun, Brandon likes playing and watching basketball and football, and he is a huge Dallas Cowboys fan. He also spends his free time reading and having fun with friends and family, especially when there is good food involved.

Dad and Mom serve as Brandon’s greatest role models. He is encouraged by the strong individuals they are and the spirituality and wisdom they possess. Advice that Brandon shares for those coming behind him in the industry, "Make sure your heart is in it."

Brandon Truttling currently resides in Oakland County.
