Neither rain nor sleet nor dark of night will keep Dave Rexroth from delivering his weather forecast. Every day, starting at 5 a.m., Dave is there, with his sidekicks Erik and Alicia, helping viewers wake up prepare for their day.
Prior to joining Channel 7's "Action News this Morning" and "Action News at Noon" teams, Dave spent three years as the evening meteorologist at WFOR-TV in Miami. There he covered both Hurricane Irene and Tropical Storm Harvey.
Dave has also appeared on national television shows including Good Morning America Sunday and CBS News Saturday Morning.
In 2008, Dave won an MAB award for “Best Weather” with Sean Ash. He also received an Emmy for the Lion King Special.
A graduate of Luther College in Iowa, Dave went on to receive a master's degree in Meteorology from the University of Chicago where he studied under Ted Fujita of the famous F-Scale for tornado strength.
An avid Detroit sports fan, Dave is glad to be living and working in the town of the Red Wings, the Pistons, the Lions and the Tigers.
Channel 7's weather guy brings an engaging smile and a special brand of humor to Detroit mornings. He describes himself as a fun guy. "I like to laugh, and I try to find humor in any situation," he says.
Dave Rexroth lives in Oakland County with his wife Deborah and their three sons. He is a devoted husband and father, and plays an active role in his childrens' home and school lives.
