Val Clark is a veteran of broadcast news and is dedicated to covering the stories that matter to metro Detroiters.
Clark has seen the good and bad in her years at reporting for Action News. She can say she has covered inspirational stories on the rebirth of Detroit, but she has also been there for the more somber stories that still need to be told.
Val remembers fondly her time as a producer for Channel 7, traveling with Rosa Parks in Montgomery to retrace the steps leading up to the famous bus boycott. In her career she’s also enjoyed covering Nelson Mandela and reporting the dramatic Pistons championship run in 2004.
Clark’s broadcasting career began at WABC-TV in New York, as a writer and assignment editor in the news department. She came to WXYZ-TV and Detroit as a news writer in 1980, and today she hits the streets as an Action News reporter.
Clark is the proud recipient of several honors, including over 14 Emmy nominations and an Emmy award for her piece on bulimia, "Dying to be Thin." For her report on Rosa Parks and the bus boycott, she earned the National American Women in Radio and Television Commendation award.
A native of New York, Clark lives in Oakland County and enjoys traveling and relaxing with her family.
