Well take a bow Detroit! Last weekend, the New York Times issued their list of best destinations to visit for 2008. And you may be surprised by this news, Detroit was ranked 40th in the world, and one of only 6 U.S. cities that made the list, beating London, England, New York City, and Las Vegas! No doubt our Convention and Visitors Bureau has been working hard to tell our story. Very impressive!

This is one of many things we have to be proud of and each of us should make a New Year's resolution to spread the good news about our hometown. All of us need to appreciate the new and old jewels in this community. If we don't speak well of Detroit, how can we expect anyone else to?

The new DIA, the Riverwalk, Campus Martius, and world class sports teams are all part of our new reality, so take credit. You, the people, made all this progress happen. So over the holidays, remember to stand up and tell em you're from Detroit!
