Detroiters Celebrate Obama Victory

Last Update: 11/05/2008 12:37 pm
DETROIT (AP) — Moments after the media declared Barack Obama the next president, downtown Detroit erupted in celebration.

Revelers screamed and yelled the Democratic U.S. senator's name. Some wept.

Dozens of Obama supporters hugged each other during a celebration inside Flood's bar. Outside, cars rolled past blaring their horns.

Michigan delivered 17 electoral votes to Obama as it backed the Democratic nominee for the fifth time since 1992.
