It amazing that some people vote for some one because of their race and not character or wisdom. I voted for McCain because he seemed to have more experience but will support obama even thoug he seems unsure of what he is going to do. His observation Friday could have been made by an 8th grader

Warren G. Harding our Nation's 29th President 1921 - 1923. Harding had black ancestors between both sets of parents. Harding attended "Iberia College", a school founded to educate fugitive slaves. Harding suffered nervous breakdowns at age 24. Some speculate his illness was due to the pressure of not fully disclosing his black heritage, and living as "white"........................ Calvin Coolidge our Nation's 30th President 1923 - 1929. Coolidge's mother's maiden name was "Moor" and in Europe the name "Moor" was given to ALL blacks, just as N*E*G*R*O was used in America. It later was concluded that Coolidge was indeed part black............. Last and certainly not least...... Dwight D. Eisenhower our Nation's 34th President. Ida Elizabeth Stover was a mulatto woman, making Eisenhower part black. He was the first President to elevate an African American to an executive position in the White House. And he was the first President since Reconstruction to meet with Civil Rights leaders in the White House............... So in all actuality our President Elect is really Lucky #7.

Thomas Jefferson our Nation's 3rd President 1801 - 1809 was described as a "son of a half - breed Indian squaw" and a Virginian mulatto father. Jefferson himself destroyed all documentation attached to his mother. Even to seize letters written by his mother to other people.............. Andrew Jackson our Nation's 7th President 1829 - 1837. Jackson was the son of an Irish woman who married a black man. Jackson's oldest brother was sold as a slave................ Abraham Lincoln our Nation's 16th President 1861 - 1865. His mother allegedly came from an Ethiopian tribe. His heritage fueled so much controversy that Lincoln was nicknamed "Abraham Africanus the First" by his Presidential opponents, and cartoons were drawn depicting him as a N*E*G*R*O. Thomas Lincoln could NOT have been Lincoln's father, because he was sterile from childhood mumps and was later castrated.......

To misty 1628 I hate to burst your or anyone else's bubble, but if we analyze the real criteria for the determination of "being black" it may surprise you that our President Elect may NOT be our first "black" President. In the 19th, and 20th centuries, the standard of determining one's race was, "one drop of black blood" made you black. Socially and in the eyes of the Law. So by that standard, it would appear some U.S. Presidents would have been considered Black or Mulatto.

With the state of economy being as horrendous as it is to date we would be foolish to think that anyone could turn this around with the blink of an eye. President Elect Barack Obama along with the cooperation, dedication and patience of Congress and The American People can indeed make a difference. I love my country and be it Obama Mc Cain or even Nader - whoever might have won the election is going to need atleast a term to sort through this mess. I support fully my Commander And Chief whomever it is and it IS Obama!

misty1628 - 11/5/2008 1:17 PM
I meant I wasn't leaping for joy to vote for McCain but I was voting for experience.............

misty1628 - 11/5/2008 1:16 PM
Maryleee - you are right, he is 1/2 black and 1/2 white (and Muslim) but with dark skin. Do you think the turn out would have been the same if his skin was more white? I don't think so. I think more people voted for him because he was "black" with some thinking it would be "cool" and some because they are black as well. That that I was leaping for joy that McCain was our other main choice, but Barack lacks the experience we need in the white house. People voted for the wrong reasons...........
