Levin Headed for 6th Term

In the race for US Senate, WXYZ-TV’s exclusive exit poll shows incumbent Democrat Carl Levin holding a 66%-28% lead over Republican challenger Jack Hoogendyk.

Levin, a five-term senator, appeared almost untouchable heading into election day. The popular democrat was shown leading his republican opponent by a margin of 58%-30%, according to an October 24 poll

Levin currently serves as chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee and head of the Permanent Investigations Subcommittee of Governmental Affairs.

Hoogendyk is a term-limited House member from Kalamazoo County.
