STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich. (WXYZ) - Voters in Macomb County want a new government that will put ethics reforms in place, cut the number of commissioners, and appoint an executive to handle government business and attract new jobs.
The vote was overwhelmingly in favor of an executive-style government similar to those in Oakland and Wayne counties. Supporters of the new government say an executive is better equipped to tackle challenges facing the county.
In Sterling Heights, incumbent Richard Notte was re-elected as mayor, defeating David J. Magliulo, with 60 percent of the vote.
