(WXYZ) After an emotional day in court, Christine Beatty addressed the media for the first time since the text message scandal broke. Beatty accepted a plea deal Monday afternoon that required her to plead guilty to two felony counts. She will also spend time in jail and pay $100,000 in restitution.

The terms of the plea deal were announced in a hearing this morning before Wayne County Circuit Court Judge Timothy Kenny.
Beatty has agreed to plead guilty to two felony counts of obstruction of justice. She signed a plea agreement. According to the terms of the plea deal, she will serve 5 years probation with the first 120 days of that probation spent in the Wayne County Jail.
She must pay $100,000 in restitution and cannot travel out of the tri-county area.
Proceedings paused for a short time as Beatty wiped tears from her eyes. She then addressed the court admitting that she lied under oath during the whistleblower trial.
Sentencing has been scheduled for January 5th.
Prosecutor Kym Worthy is expected to talk shortly after the hearing.
