DETROIT (WXYZ) - Former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick has left the state for a job interview in Texas. It is believed he is joining his family in Texas.

Kilpatrick left the jail this morning around 12:30 a.m. without comment to the media throng camped out to meet him. He spent 99 days behind bars are part of a plea bargain.
While Kilpatrick was able to leave the state almost immediately for the job interview, the judge ruled that he can only be gone a few days. No details about the possible job have been released. Kilpatrick spent last night at his mother's house in Detroit.
While he is out of jail, Kilpatrick will spend the next five years on probation. He will also have to pay $1 million dollars in restitution.
Kilpatrick's legal troubles may not be over. He has recently been linked to the Synagro sludge scandal that is swirling around city hall. However, federal prosecutors have not officially identified him as a suspect in the case, and they will not say if any indictments are forthcoming.
