ROCHESTER HILLS, Mich. (WXYZ) - The health care debate that has sparked passionate responses on both sides of the issue led to a packed town hall Tuesday night in Rochester Hills.
WATCH MICHAEL ROSENFIELD'S REPORT IN THE VIDEO PLAYER ON THE RIGHTStanding room only in the auditorium of Rochester High School Tuesday night, as nearly everyone in the packed crowd is opposed to the health care bill on the table.
Some worried about being controlled from birth until death; one woman feared the government would have access to people's checking accounts; others were concerned about skyrocketing taxes.
Just a small group of people stood up when asked if they support the bill.
The town hall was hosted by Republican state representative Tom McMillin, who's against the proposed legislation.
A spokesman for Rep. Gary Peters' office says Tuesday's town hall was more about partisan politics, and the congressman has gone out of his way to get input on the issue, with nine of his "Congress on Your Corner" public meetings in the last seven months, although none since the debate really heated up this month, and none are scheduled for the near future.
