Flu Vaccine Halted, Oakland Co. to Run Out

Last Update: 10/08/2009 11:43 pm
(WXYZ) - Distribution of the seasonal flu vaccine is being halted by the federal government. All providers that were expecting seasonal flu vaccine will see an interruption in the delivery. In fact, the Oakland County Health Division says it will run out of the vaccine at the end of the day Thursday, October 8.

The government is halting delivery of the seasonal flu vaccine to prioritize distribution of the H1N1 flu vaccine.

Oakland County says it is suspending its seasonal flu shot program at offices in Pontiac, Southfield and Walled Lake.

The Oakland County Health Division has provided more than 24,000 seasonal flu shots since opening in mid-September.

For more information on H1N1 and seasonal flu vaccine visit www.oakgov.com/health or call the Flu Shot Hotline at 1-800-434-3358.
