The Michigan Department of Community health is confirming a second death in the state related to the H1N1 flu. Watch Video

The number of confirmed H1N1 cases continues to rise in Michigan. As of Wednesday, June 10, the Department of Community Health reports that there are 418 confirmed cases of the virus which is commonly referred to as the swine flu.

A case of the H1N1- swine flu virus has been confirmed at Kenbrook Elementary School in Farmington Hills.

The Genesee County Health Department is reporting the first case of the H1N1 virus in that county.

The number of swine flu-related deaths outside Mexico has inched up to five with the U.S. reporting its third fatality and Costa Rica its first, both involving men who also had underlying illnesses.

Brownell Middle School in Grosse Pointe Farms will reopen Wednesday after the CDC revised recommendations for school closings related to the H1N1 virus.

The CDC has issued new guidelines for schools that have suspected cases of the H1N1 virus. The health organization now says that it is not advising the schools to close.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has confirmed six more cases of the Influenza A (H1N1) virus here in Michigan. Four more probable cases have also been identified.
