(WXYZ) - With the gradual roll out of the swine flu vaccine now underway, many parents say they're still not sure whether or not to get their children vaccinated.
Jim Miller is one parent who is dealing with tough questions about the vaccine. He and his wife were leaning towards not getting the vaccine for their two children. "Kids are supposed to get sick, to build their immune systems, so that's where we're coming from."
However, President Obama's declaration of a national H1N1 flu emergency has them reconsidering that position. Miller says he is especially concerned about his 3-year-old daughter bringing viruses home and giving them to his 8-month-old daughter.
While parents decide what to do, hospitals are ramping up their preparations for dealing with the the virus. The President's order frees up more resources that will allow them to better prepare for the virus.
However, one thing that the order may not help them get is more of the vaccine. Most organizations giving out the H1N1 vaccine say their supplies are running low, and they do not know when they will get more.
