H1N1 a Big Concern for Parents in Clarkston

Last Update: 10/19 7:20 pm
CLARKSTON, Mich. (WXYZ) - At least five students in the Clarkston School District may have contracted the H1N1 flu virus. Now, parents are concerned that the virus could keep spreading.

These new cases come as health officials confirm the number of children whose deaths were related to the H1N1 flu.

Eighty-six children have died from the Swine Flu since the flu first broke out last year.

The Clarkston School District sent an email to parents after local doctors informed district they had a higher than normal number of students come down with flu-like symptoms. Many of the illness reports were from Sashabaw Middle School.

When the District looked into the reports, it was discovered that many of the sick children attended sixth grade camp last week.

Parents are encouraged to remind their children to wash their hands frequently and to keep their kids home when they are sick.
