Macomb Officials Concerned over H1N1 Supply

Last Update: 10/28/2009 11:01 am
WARREN, Mich. (WXYZ) - Macomb County is taking extraordinary measures to protect residents from the H1N1 flu outbreak.

As worried parents and families swarm clinics trying to beat the swine flu vaccination shortage, Macomb County is making plans to carry out mass vaccinations. County officials tell Action News they're looking at ways to safeguard the region.

Vicki Wolber works with the Macomb County Health Department. She says the county is trying to pre-empt a concentrated and massive outbreak.

"If we have to enter into any contracts or such, normally we would have to go through a committee process, take that to our board of commissioners, and then be able to enter into those contracts. Under this heightened state of alert we won't have to do that."

Still, the concern here is supply, and right now there isn't enough of the vaccine for everyone.
