YPSILANTI, Mich. (WXYZ) - Huron Valley Catholic School is closing until Monday, November 9 because of high absenteeism.
Officials say more than 30 percent of the students at the school have come down with a flu-like illness. Officials believe it is H1N1 influenza.
Across the state, more than 500 schools have been closed because of illness over the last month.
Officials say this is unusual because flu season does not peak until January or February. They also say the rates of illness in schools are surpassing what they would normally see during peak times.
