(WXYZ) - Another contentious day in Wayne County Circuit Court as county prosecutors Wednesday revealed that former Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick received help in paying his court-ordered restitution from friends and former administration officials.

Under intense questioning from prosecuting attorney Athina Siringas, Kilpatrick acknowledged that he received at least $12,500 from Sandra Ramsey, the mother of two of Kilpatrick’s longtime friends, DeDan and Kandia Milton. All three worked in Kilpatrick’s administration while he was mayor.

Siringas pressed Kilpatrick on why he needed the help from Ramsey, given that he had just received $150,000 from local business leaders, which Kilpatrick insists were loans. Kilpatrick said the money was not his, since he had signed the checks over to his wife.

“Right,” said Saringas sarcastically. “So then it can’t go towards your restitution because your wife has it. “

Kilpatrick said he believed that loans he received were not required to go towards his restitution.

Also in court, Kilpatrick acknowledged that Jeffrey Beasley, the former treasurer for the City of Detroit, and a longtime friend of the Kilpatricks, also provided cash assistance to Kilpatrick so that he could pay some of his restitution. Kilpatrick declined to say how much or who else may have provided cash assistance.

Kilpatrick left Detroit Wednesday evening for Dallas, insisting he had an important meeting tomorrow at 11 a.m. for his employer, Covisint.
