After meeting with the Red Wings, Dallas and Montreal last week, Swedish prospect Fabian Brunnstrom will take at least a few days to decide on his future.
"Brunnstrom got back to Sweden yestereday,'' Wings general manager Ken Holland said today. "They're going to give him a few days to kind of get his bearings and then later in the week or early next week they're going to sit down with him and his Swedish agent and they're going to start to go through their process.''
Detroit, Montreal and Dallas are believed to be Brunnstrom's finalists, although that can change. Philadelphia and Toronto are both believed to be making pitches to Brunnstrom.
Brunnstrom, 23, has captured the attention of many an NHL team this season after coming out of nowhere and having a great season in the Swedish Elite League. The fear now is that his hype has grown to such excess fans will be expecting the second coming of Sidney Crosby.
"This has been so big and almost like Iām the next Sidney Crosby,ā he said. āI am not the next Sidney Crosby, so, I just want to sign and get it over with.ā
At the latest, Brunnstrom is expected to make his decision by June 1.
