The Detroit Red Wings say they've recalled forward Mattias Ritola from the AHL's Grand Rapids Griffins and assigned C Kris Newbury to Grand Rapids.
Detroit said Monday he'll be in the lineup when it hosts the Chicago Blackhawks on Wednesday.
The 22-year-old native of Borlange, Sweden, appeared in two games for Detroit in the 2007-08 season.
Ritola has appeared in 31 games for Grand Rapids this season, with seven goals and seven assists.
