Snow Cleanup Underway, Slick Roads

(WXYZ) - A Winter Storm Warning that covered the metro area has expired, but the cleanup from the storm is just beginning.

Most of the metro Detroit area received between 6" to 9" of snow.

Winds are expected to increase, coming from the north and northwest at speeds of up to 30 mph, causing blowing and drifting snow across the area.

Event: Major snowstorm. A total of 37 inches near Rutland, VT. Almost 2 feet at Portland, ME. Seven inches of sleet and snow at Hartford, CT. Storms killed 11 in Midwest and East. Wind gusts to 101 mph at Somesville, Maine.

Place: South Carolina
Year: 1991
Event: Early morning severe thunderstorm produced hail to 2.5 inches in diameter. Hardest hit was Lexington County. The hail destroyed a brand new pickup truck in Gaston.
