BERKLEY, MICH (WXYZ) - For two decades, a troupe of Detroit-area attorneys has been entertaining mostly private audiences throughout Michigan and the country with hilarious musical parody. One evening a year, they hold a show open to the general public in what has become an annual tradition. A (Habeas) Chorus Line ™( www.habeaschorus.com ) will present this year’s show, “You Couldn’t Make This Up,” at 8 p.m. on Friday, October 26, 2012 at Berkley High School Auditorium in Berkley.
Tickets are $15 each and all seating is general admission. For tickets, call (313) 310-0940 or email info@habeaschorus.com .
While watching lawyers sing may seem incongruous (good lawyer word), A (Habeas) Chorus Line™ has proven to audiences that satire is not necessarily what closes on Saturday night. From local issues to national and international events, from lawyers to politicians to celebrities, Habeas is an equal-opportunity lampooner.
Formed in 1992 for what cast members thought was a one-time performance, A (Habeas) Chorus Line™ creates parodies of existing show tunes and pop numbers as well as original numbers. Their humor has broad appeal and a bit of a bite, and you certainly don't have to be a lawyer to "get it."
