Common Ground's 38th Annual Birmingham Street Art Fair, named one of the top 100 fine art fairs in the country by Sunshine Artist Magazine, will take place on Saturday and Sunday, September 22 and 23 in downtown Birmingham. The artist booths will extend down Old Woodward south of Maple Road.
The art fair will host more than 150 artists from across the country showcasing their handmade artwork in ceramics, painting, photography, glass, jewelry, sculpture, wood, leather, metals, mixed media, paper, basketry, digital art, drawing, print making, and more. It is produced in association with the Guild of Artists and Artisans.
In addition, special guest, The Detroit Institute of Arts, will lead hands-on children’s art activities at this year’s fair. Young fairgoers will have the chance to create their very own butterfly marionette and learn a bit about the history of puppets.
And, in addition to the artist booths, the Birmingham Street Art Fair once again presents the annual “Art Auction” benefiting Common Ground. Visitors will have the opportunity to bid on wonderful artwork donated by participating artists and in so doing, help Common Ground continue its important work.
