She trains in metro Detroit and came within two seconds of winning the Boston Marathon earlier this week.
Desiree Davila took the lead at the 20-mile mark, but Caroline Kilel of Kenya passed Desiree toward the end of the course and held on to beat her by two seconds.

Desiree's time was 2:22:38 which was not only her personal best but it's the fastest time for an American woman ever at Boston.
It's been 26 years since an American woman won the Boston Marathon. The last American woman to win at Boston was Lisa Rainsberger.

Davila has been invited to throw out the Detroit Tigers ceremonial first pitch on Tuesday, April 26.
