Heather Catallo is an award winning Investigative Reporter.

Heather is a native Detroiter committed to her community both on and off the job. Since she arrived at the station in 1999, Heather has brought hard-hitting investigative reports and breaking news coverage to Channel 7 viewers.

Raised in Bloomfield Hills, Heather graduated from Andover High School and went on to attend Syracuse University's S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications in Syracuse, New York. She has worked as a reporter for WTVH-TV in Syracuse and as a Police Beat reporter for KREM-TV in Spokane, Washington.

Heather is the recipient of many honors. Most recently, Heather won three Emmy awards, including the Emmy for Best Reporter. The Michigan Association of Broadcasters named Heather the 2010 Reporter of the Year. She also won Reporter of the Year in 2009 and 2007, and she has received several MAB Merit awards for her investigations. Heather won the 2005 and 2003 Associated Press Awards for Best Individual Reporting. The Society of Professional Journalists has also honored Heather with several First Place awards for Investigative Reporting and Open Government Reporting.

Heather's investigations have challenged the state's foster care system, and exposed flaws in the way some children are removed from their parents. Her stories have prompted significant change in the Wayne County bail bond system, bringing wanted felons to justice. Whether it means traveling to Washington, DC to demand answers for homeowners facing foreclosure or breaking the news that Detroit's former mayor would be indicted on rackateering charges, Heather loves to bring the big stories home for Channel 7's viewers.

When she's not busy exposing wrongdoing and holding local leaders accountable, Heather loves spending her free time with her daughter and her English bulldog.
