South Lyon, MI. - This week, I had the pleasure of serving as emcee for the Mercy Education Project 20 th Annual Side-by-Side Charity Golf Outing Dinner and Awards Program. Approximately, 150 golfers attended this festive program honoring the girls and women enrolled in Mercy’s educational programs. The event was held at the Walnut Creek Country Club in South Lyon, MI. and raised about $70,000.
The Mercy Education serves over 150 low-income females a year with their results-driven programs that are designed to improve academic outcomes and help the ladies become better prepared to be successful in life. Two of the recent graduates, Luvanis O’Neil and Bertha Gonzalez were the featured speakers for the evening and gave outstanding testimonies about their reading achievements.
The golf outing committee, event volunteers, and Mercy board of directors did a fabulous job putting the day together. There were close to 100 donors of auction prizes that ranged from autographed sports memorabilia to weekly vacations at Florida condos.
Kudos to Executive Director Amy Amador and her staff for planning such a successful event.
