(WXYZ) - He's lived quietly in the Detroit area for years, all the while not knowing that he was bigger than Elvis and The Rolling Stones overseas.
Now, he's the subject of an Oscar-nominated film that began when two South Africans decided to unravel the mystery of how their favorite musician died.
