Perhaps the most infamous case of alleged adultery the world has ever seen propelled Tiger Woods to the top of the list of Celebrities on AOL’s 2010 Hot Searches.

While it all began back on Thanksgiving 2009, Tiger’s clickability really heated up in 2010 when he went under the radar for a while possibly attending sex rehab and then hosted a disastrous meeting with reporters in February and announced in March he would return to golf.

The most searched for topics online are a way to gauge what Americans are interested in, and what they may want to know more about, AOL said Tuesday in a statement announcing their most popular searches for 2010.

Following Tiger on the list of popular celebrity searches were pop sensations Justin Bieber and Lady Gaga at 2 & 3, while Oscar-winner Sandra Bullock and reality star Kate Gosselin (another celebrity at the center of an infamous adultery scandal) rounded out the Top 5 celebrity searches.

Robert Pattinson, who plays the dreamy vampire Edward in the “Twilight Saga” came in at No. 6, followed by Kim Kardashian, Heidi Montag, Linday Lohan and Bret Michaels, who completed the Top 10.

Other categories of Hot Searches for 2010 and their winners were: News (BP Oil Spill); Health (Bed Bugs); Shopping (iPad); Movies (Alice in Wonderland); and Trends (Betty White).
