(WXYZ) - Detroit native and national recording artist KEM will host 3rd annual Mack & Third benefit Sunday, August 26. The event will get underway at 1pm at Cass Park.

The day-long free concert and food drive will benefit Detroit's homeless shelters and food banks. It'll also provide an opportunity for volunteers to feed the homeless and others in need.

In 2009, KEM, who still makes Detroit his home, hosted his first "Mack & Third" event (which was named for the area where many of Detroit's homeless citizens reside), served more than 500 of Detroit's homeless citizens a meal, collected over 40,000 canned goods and 26,000-plus people enjoyed the free event.

The 2012 event will feature: 'A Meal & A Message' from KEM - specifically for homeless citizens; several food & merchandise vendors; free health screenings; and five hours of live concert entertainment that will include a performance by Grammy- nominated Artist KEM as well as special guests Maze featuring Frankie Beverly.
