Detroit (WXYZ) - It's summer and you know what that means! Detroit River Days! River Days is a 3-day festival taking place on the Detroit RiverWalk June 22-24 with all the activities aimed at widening the experience on the riverfront, as well as live concerts, this year’s River Days will span the Detroit RiverWalk from the Renaissance Center to the newly opened section of the William G. Milliken State Park and Harbor, Michigan’s first urban state park.
Some events that will be taking place is a World War II B-!7 Bomber from Willow Run Airport flying over the festival in tribute to the Tuskegee Airmen who were one of the first African American fighter pilots. Also The Kids Zone will be having an “All Aboard!” theme capturing boating and fun on the Detroit River. Activities for the children will include face painting, cool crafts by Matrix Theater of Southwest Detroit, earth-friendly crafts by Arts and Scraps, imaginative story telling and puppet and magic shows. All activities are free and Kids Stage entertainment is provided by AM 910 Radio Disney.
The Diamond Jack River Tours will be docked at Rivard Plaza during River Days! Festival-goers will be able to take 1-hour tours and experience the sights along the newly developed Detroit Riverfront from the Detroit River. These tours will be presented at a discounted rate, with $10 tickets for adults and seniors, and $5 tickets for children. Children under 5 years of age are free with an adult.
The fee for River Days is $3 from 11:00am until 5:00pm. The fee after 5:00pm is $5. Children ages 3 and under as well as seniors ages 65 and up are not required to pay an admission fee. But Friday June 22nd is free if you get there between 11 and 5pm.
