DETROIT, Mich.(WXYZ) - The wind blew Mary Poppins into the Fisher Theatre this week. The hit Disney Broadway Musical will be in town through October 28, 2012.
The musical is based on the Disney film featuring an irresistible story and unforgettable songs from one of the most popular films of all time. It is classic storyline about a nanny that appears at the door of a family that has forgotten the importance of each other.
The father is a hard working banker that has neglected his family's love and attention for a long time. Professionally, he lost the love of humanity. He has been cold and heartless in every aspect of his life.
The mother is a former actress and now stays at home and struggles with her place in society and her family. The children have become rebellious and uncontrollable.
Mary Poppins appears in their life at the perfect time. The family is struggling with each other and their purpose.
The vibrant props and stage décor help the audience travel through the neighborhood which brings their dreary mundane life back to a softer, friendlier side of each family member.
Mary Poppins is a magical character takes the audience on an adventure that leads the family back to each other.
The musical is very family friendly and brings back childhood memories to the adults in the audience with the timeless songs like "A Spoonful of Sugar" and "Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious" of that were captivating in the original Disney movie.
