(WXYZ) - Kick off the Fourth of July weekend with high spirits and family fun at the Oakland County Fair.
The fair is at Springfield Oaks County Park in Davisburg; the fair runs through July 4 - 14.
The fair opens at 1 p.m. on July 4 with discounts on arm-bands for carnival rides. At dusk, visitors can see fireworks displays.
Each day there is something special planned.
Saturday, July 6 -- Veterans and active military personnel get free admission to the fairgrounds and figure 8 races.
Monday, July 8 –– Seniors aged 62 and up get free admission from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
In addition, Eric Paslay and Kris Hitchcock & Small Town Son will perform in the Nashville in the Neighborhood free concert. The gates open at 6 p.m. and it is a first come first served seating.
Thursday, July 11 is Oakland County Parks and Recreation Day and Special Needs Day. Parking will be free July 11 with the 2013 Oakland County Parks and recreation annual vehicle permit. Children with special needs and their caregivers will get free admission to the circus show and carnival rides from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Families that wish to participate in on this day will need to call the fair office at 248-634-8830 to register in advance.
