DETROIT (WXYZ) - The Detroit Institute of Arts has announced that one of Vincent Van Gogh's most famous paintings will be on display in Detroit beginning next month.
The DIA says Bedroom in Arles will be loaned to them from the Musée d’Orsay in Paris from February 19 to May 28. The painting will be placed in the Dutch galleries where a Vermeer painting was displayed last year.
The display is being supported by Talmer Bank.
Bedroom in Arles will be displayed along with three other Van Gogh's that are in the DIA's collection.
The three other Van Goghs that will be displayed are The Diggers, The Portrait of the Postman Roulin and Self-Portrait.
Bedroom in Arles was first painted in 1888. That copy of the painting was damaged while Van Gogh was hospitalized.
He then painted two additional copies, one of which is housed in the collection of the Art Institute of Chicago. The other copy is the one that will be visiting Detroit.
The original painting is in the possession of the Vincent Van Gogh Foundation and on permanent display at the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam.
