Legendary singer DIONNE WARWICK is celebrating 50 years in the music business by performing a benefit concert for victims of superstorm Sandy on Saturday (15Dec12).
The Walk On By hitmaker will take to the stage at the Fontainebleau hotel in Miami Beach, Florida to raise money for the United Way Hurricane Sandy Recovery Fund.
Dionne's Hurricane Sandy Event was originally arranged by Warwick's music producer son Damon Elliott as a career retrospective but the bash was turned into a charity gig following the devastating storm, which hit the singer's New Jersey hometown in October (12).
Elliott says, "It (the Fontainebleau hotel) was one of her favorite places in the world to perform. She performed here with Frank Sinatra. In 2012 mom has performed almost 150 shows. I wanted to honor her at a place that she would always remember."
Singer Natalie Cole and other special guests are expected to appear at the event, which will also feature an auction to benefit those who were left homeless when the superstorm ravaged America's East Coast.
