(WXYZ) - In the October 10 issue of Rolling Stone magazine, Miley Cyrus says Detroit is where she "grew up."
Cyrus appears on the cover of the issue , which hits newsstands next week.
In an extended profile, Cyrus says "Detroit's where I felt like I really grew up."
She also says it was the first city where she got a tattoo without her mother's consent.
"I got it on 8 Mile," Cyrus tells the magazine. "I lied to the guy and told him I was 18. I got a heart on my finger and wore a Band-Aid for two months so my mom wouldn't find out."
Cyrus was in Detroit in July and August of 2010 to shoot the movie LOL with Demi Moore. The film was eventually released in theaters in 2012, but only made a little over $18 million at the box office.
