Mother of Good Morning America anchor Robin Roberts dies

(WXYZ) - The mother of Good Morning America anchor Robin Roberts, has died.

Lucimarian Tolliver Roberts (1924-2012) made several appearances on Good Morning America, most recently to detail her book “My Story, My Song” which Robin collaborated on with her.

Mrs. Roberts was the first African American to head Mississippi’s Board of Education.

Robin who told viewers of her MDS diagnosis in July, started her medical leave Thursday . She traveled home to Mississippi with her sister Sally Ann, passing through flooded and blocked roads to see their mother.

The daughters made it just in time to spend their last moments together before she passed away late Thursday night.

There will be a special tribute to Mrs. Roberts on Good Morning America.
