(WXYZ) - NBA star Ron Artest has legally changed his name. Not to Ronald or Ronnie but instead to Metta World Peace.
On September 23 a Los Angeles court made the name change official.
ESPN reports say Artest was not present during the ruling but his attorney, Nahla Rajan, was present at that time and represented Artest before Commissioner Matthew C. St. George.
Sometime last month, Artest’s pursuit to gain a new legal name was delayed because of a failure to pay an outstanding parking ticket.
The name change has even sparked an interest for Artest’s 8-year-old daughter, Diamond, who now plans to change her surname to World Peace.
For those of you wondering what’s next for World Peace, so are we.
