(WXYZ) - The 2013 nominees for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame have been announced!

A group of first-time nominees are hoping to be among the great in the world of rock and roll. These bands and artists include: Rush, Deep Purple, N.W.A, Public Enemy, Albert King, Procol Harum and Motown group The Marvelettes.

These first-time nominees join the returnees and previously nominated acts Chic, Heart, Donna Summer, Kraftwerk, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, Randy Newman, Paul Butterfield Blues Band and The Meters.

In order to be on the ballot for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, artists must have released their work at least 25 years prior to being nominated.

A group of 600 artists, music historians and members of the industry will choose the 2013 inductees.

The winners will be revealed in December and the 28th Annual Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will be held in Los Angeles at the Nokia Theatre on Saturday April 18, 2013.
