(WXYZ) - It is an organization started by the mom of a developmentally disabled child. She wondered what would happen to her child when she no longer could care for her. Angel’s Place was the answer.

Now Angel’s Place runs 19 houses in metro-Detroit. They are homes to about 100 people with disabilities. The organization gives them the extra care they need to live full, independent, and happy lives.

“It is a promise we make to the aging parents,” said Angel’s Place Executive Director Cheryl Loveday. “Our care is care for life.”

Many of the people who rely on Angel’s Place will live there for decades. In order to keep its promise, Angel’s Place relies on donations from the public.

One of its big fundraisers is Wednesday, November 3rd at 6:00p.m. It is a reception and dinner to be held at the Hyatt Regency in Dearborn.

Bestselling author and World War II Prisoner of War Louis Zamperini will speak at the event. If you would like to buy tickets or learn more information, click here .

The charity will also be auctioning off a 2-year-lease for a Ford Focus. You do not need to be present to win. You can buy a ticket here.

The people who rely on Angel’s Place say it is a more than a place to stay, it has become their home. They are grateful to all who help fund their home.
