Troy, Michigan (WXYZ) - A driver in Troy saw flashing red lights in the rearview mirror, then pulled over.  As the driver got a better look at the vehicle that then sped by, the driver knew something wasn’t right.

It wasn’t a typical police cruiser or emergency vehicle. It was a Cadillac Escalade and the lights just didn’t look like typical emergency lights. That driver then decided to call 911.

Troy Police responded and pulled the Escalade over. The driver denied having emergency lights, but police say they spotted the switch used to turn them on and quickly exposed the driver’s lie.

The driver was arrested and is now facing reckless driving and misdemeanor possession of flashing red and blue lights, a violation of a Troy ordinance.

As for why the 23-year-old Hamtramck man was driving with those flashing lights, police say it is possible he simply wanted to get around traffic.
