(HARRISON TOWNSHIP-WXYZ) - It is kind of like the saying, “When one door closes, another one opens.”

This time however it is, “When a fighter jet takes off, a transport plane lands.”

U.S. Rep. Sander Levin spoke out this week about a Pentagon recommendation to relocate two dozen C-130 air transport planes to Selfridge Air National Guard Base.

He says he hopes it brings enough jobs to make up for the planned relocation of two-dozen A-10 Thunderbolt II air-to-ground attack aircraft currently at the base.

Many had been fighting the move that would have cut a net 450 part-time and 200 full-time jobs at Selfridge.

Defense Secretary Leon Panetta recommended Tuesday that the military budget 2,200 personnel needed to support the transport planes that may be coming to Selfridge.
