RIVERVIEW, Mich. (WXYZ) - Thursday morning Riverview school leaders watched students closely. Extra police officers patrolled school yards and parents were on edge after reports of an attempted abduction.
The incident reportedly happened Tuesday after school. Riverview Police say a Seitz Middle School student was skateboarding on Longsdorf near Ray Street.
A man in a dark red Ford Ranger pulled up and told him to get in the vehicle. It was a later model truck with some rust.
The student took off. He rushed to Memorial Elementary where he knew there would be help.
According to a letter sent home to parents, the man is described as a “white male in his thirties, thin build, short black hair; reddish looking face, maybe wind burnt; and was also reported to have a backpack in the passenger’s seat of his truck.”
The letter told parents to call Riverview Police Detective Wooliver if they have any information about who this man may be.
