Detroit (WXYZ) - Some 3,000 postal workers from all over the country demonstrated in downtown Detroit Tuesday afternoon.

They are concerned about the elimination of Saturday service.

The post office is $7 billion in the red this year, and they claim cutting out Saturday service will save them nearly $3 billion a year.

Workers are concerned that the cuts would eliminate 40-thousand jobs nationwide.

They also say it would leave customers who depend on the post office high and dry.

"It's a government service, it's not meant to make a profit, it is a suppose to provide a service," says postal worker Michael Arrabito.
